The recent Devastating Kyirung / Rasuwa flood in Nepal definitely impacted the border area and Bhtoekhoshi River Valley and temporarily suspended the Kailash Mansarovar overland route. But Kailash tours using the other route Via Lhasa fly to Ali / purang or using the north route to Kailash are operating. Earthbound Expeditions may run 2 or 3 more trips in 2026 using the changed route for Kailash Mansarovar yatra.

Not all of Nepal is affected; only the Bhotekosi/Trishuli Valley is affected. All other areas of Nepal are normal, and all tours/hotels/airport roads are operating. We have 3 more border/porter options to go to Kailash Manasarovar: via Zhangmu/Naylam (entry/exit is temporarily suspended; entry/exit is ok), Korola border, and Simikot border.

Even after the Aug 26th flood, our group of 28 yatri, which was in Kailash, completed the yatra safely and returned home happy.

From the recent Kailash Mansarovar yatra of 2026.

We will run the Kailash tour in 2027. Most likely, many Kailash Mansarovar tours will enter from China (e.g., Beijing or Chengdu) to Lhasa, then to Kailash, and exit via the Zhangmu / Naylam Kodari border to Kathmandu to do the Pashupatinath yatra, extend to Muktinath, and return to India from Nepal, or to the USA or Australia.

The possible route for Kailash Mansarovar yatra in 2027 by Earthbound Expeditions

• Kailash tour via Beijing to Lhasa and then to Saga and to Kailash Mansarovar even includes Everest Base Camp and then to Kathmandu, Nepal, via the Zhangmu border and then back to India or home. We have organized many Kailash trips using the above route. This is the safest, shortest, and most reasonable option.
• We can also do a Kailash tour via Zhangmu / Nyalam border, then to Saga, and then to Kailash, and back to Kathmandu or Lhasa
• Kailash Mansarovar tour via Kathmandu: fly to Lhasa and then drive the north or south route to Kailash and back via Zhangmu / Nyalam.
• Kailash Mansarovar tour via Kathmandu – Nepalgunj – Simikot – Hilsa Mansarovar Kailash and back via the same route or Zhangmu / Nyalam
• Kailash tour via Lhasa: fly to Ali / Purang airport and drive to Mansarovar Kailash and back via the same route, or via Zhangmu / Nyalam.

The 14-day overland tour to Kailash is the most reliable one, using the border Zhangmu / Nayalam to Saga, but we can customize the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra as per your needs for 2027.

Besides one border of Kyirung/Rasuwa, all other ports/borders are open between Nepal and China and safe for running Kailash tours. Inside Tibet/China, including Saga, Kailash, and Lhasa, all roads, hotels, and Infrastructure are safe and operating. In Nepal, besides the Bhotekosi/Trishuli Valley, all other tourist places and hiking trails are open and safe to operate.
